Steampunk Flower

Well, I quickly have to share this with your before I am off to bed. Every night I do a bit of bedtime tangling. When this crazy flower appeared, I could not resist but draw the steps straight away.

Meet Steampunk Flower ..hehe..

Sooo much fun 🙂

Have a great Easter!

Hex Flower and Hex Flower Extreme

While defining what kind of grids I will use in my book, I got completely hooked on the hex grid.

In this blog I will show you how I draw my hex grid and then expand this post to introduce a new pattern and the ‘extreme’ tangleation.
Hex Grid by Ina SonnenmoserThe hex dot grid will be used extensively in future patterns that are going to be released by me.
Hex Flower by Ina SonnenmoserI call this Hex Flower – it makes sense to me to refer to the grid that I used, to identify the pattern. I do recommend that you draw each swirl individually. Otherwise you get confused after the 4th arm.

And here we have the extreme version! It looks even better on a warped grid!

If you are one of the lucky people that own the book Tangle It! Practice Book, then you know all about pattern morphing. The picture below shows you extreme pattern morphing!

I did not shade or color this yet. How many different patterns can you spot?

OpArt #1

OpArt – fascinating, isn’t it? But where do you start? I’ll be posting a series of instructions as I find the time. Here is the first of many to come:

How to draw Flowerly

I was just playing around a bit and thought: “Why not write a step out for these pretty flowers?” Not everyone finds it easy to draw different kinds of flowers. So, maybe some of you find this helpful.

I also create a tangle it or color it page for this:

Log Cabin

I am addicted! Log Cabin is really a great pattern. Still working on christmas presents, I decided to create  a mat for a black and white photo I am going to give away.
Before giving it away, I decided to make a copy of it. I will be shrinking this image and print little gift tags. It is also perfect to print on envelopes.

What amazes me about this pattern is the way it formed these little diamonds. I only realised when I started shading. Have a look:

Here are the other 2 pieces I created so you can see just how different this pattern can look:

The step out can be found in the pattern section. Have a Zentastic day!

New pattern: Log Cabin

Now that we have successfully published our 4th book, it is time to continue with my original project: 501 Tangle Pattern Step Outs

I started the book a couple of months ago and then decided to do a ‘quick project’ with Alice and Simona: Tangle It! Journal. I learnt so much during this project. It completely changed the way I approach my new book.

The book will contain approximately 250 patterns from various artists and 250 step by step instructions of the patterns I drew. Plus lots and lots of artwork to see all those patterns in action!

It is a huge project, but now that I have mastered the Tangle It! Planner with 274 pages, I feel confident that 450 pages will be possible!

To celebrate “Back to Work” I will give you a teaser: The new pattern Log Cabin

A friend of mine gave me a quilt many years ago. It was a baby blanket for the baby that is now looking down at me. Checking various sites, I could not identify anyone that had prepared step outs for this pattern before. So here it is:

Oh, the possibilities! Let me show you the artwork in detail:

Stay tuned for more news on the development of the book!
